Have you read "Invisible Doctrine" by George Mobiot and Peter Hutchison? They assert that both party leadership is fed by different think tanks that are funded by the same oligarchs that want society to just be content with Dems that offer nothing more than stability, maybe a small win here and there. While Republicans keep pushing the culture war so that the voters that fall into that trap don't realize that they would be better served by progress and progressive officials than the regressive offerings of their hate. All a distraction so that while we get poorer fighting over issues like 'respecting each other' the oligarchy gains easier access to all the wealth. My take is that oligarchy is like a disease that won't mutate. It kills the host during the act of spreading. And eventually there are no more hosts and the disease itself dies off. Most diseases do mutate and through natural selection the form of the disease that stops killing the host lives on and we stop fighting it. For the last fifty years our disease of oligarchy has been careful not to kill the host. The Dems are still playing by those rules while the Republicans have lost control and given in to greed. Progressive candidates and actual progress are the vaccines we need.
My concerns are how will the day care givers get paid and if you freeze rent will property taxes and insurance be frozen as well? Will the wealthy who earn greater than 1M stay in the city to pay the higher taxes that is supposed to fund these benefits? I love the ideas but what turned me off to Bernie and AOC was the lack of details to how the changes they proposed would be financed. It's all in the details. Great ideas are just that without the means to make it happen. I wish him the best and hope for success.

I haven't read it, but I understand their premise :) Clear the whole Elon and Project 2025 stuff is an example of where we are now.
