It’s not just the US spending big on military equipment. Trump wants the rest of the world to follow suit and of course it will be a great if they bought from the US. Australia has a population of 26 million people (just a bit more than Florida) and yet we have committed to spending around $300 billion ($195 billion USD) just on some US submarines.

We’re also trying to come out the other side of a cost-of-living crisis, we have an ongoing housing crisis and could do with some more public infrastructure. $300 billion would go a long way to bettering the lives of 26 million people – the math aint hard.

I’m sure most Americans would prefer a future where the government invests in education, jobs, innovation and healthcare. Instead, due to Donald's actions, everyone must face an unstable global economy with rising oil and gas prices and not mention the strained relationships with other nations. Added to that the big ugly bill and it’s an even bigger mess for the US that is going to take years to recover from.

For Donny it’s still about the big, beautiful plan to be richest most powerful person in the world. The plan to be a dictator and have many more military parades, this time with everyone forced to line the streets and cheer on the dear leader.

A world where you don’t need schools because the kids will be home-schooled – all you need is the Trump bible and lessons broadcast on the Trump network. And once they are 10 years old, they can be sent to a factory to work (you need those small hands for those tiny screws on the Trump phone). There won’t be a need for universities and all the scientists will be put to work by the government in a secret research facility.

Men will do their compulsory military service and women will be at home like a good trad wife – under his eye. Anyone not serving in the military will be building the Trump cities with streets paved of fake gold. Even though I’m making this up, it’s probably not too far a stretch from the crazy stuff that Trump puts out.

Yes, we should be asking how much sacrifice is too much and what is going to be the true cost of this dystopian MAGA that Trump wants to build?
